Slap (2015)
Slap, follows Connor as he explores themes such as identity and gender presentation
- Mise en scene is a clear indicator of the themes and ideas which run throughout the film. There are numourous broken mirrors, representing Connor's fractured identity.
- Lots of shots provide a sense of verisimilitude as the viewer is situated at eye level, with a and held camera. This makes us more likely to sypathise with Connor as we are not positioned as an outsider or at distance.
- Connor is isolated at various points in the film, both literally and figuratively. One example is at the party, where he walks to the party, in the centre of the frame, alone.
- Multiple close ups, showing Connor's facial expressions and thus communicating emotion.
